Continuing the conversation about DIYs I have been stirring up around here, this week I am bringing you another great wedding DIY you can use later! I’ve already shown you some DIY wedding decor turned holiday decor, and, now, I wanted to start talking about DIY wedding projects that can eventually become permanent decor in your home! Not only is all that DIY work worth the effort for your wedding day, but you can also create things that can have some longevity in your everyday life (and don’t just sit in a box for years to come!). Not to mention, the added bonus of getting to admire something you created for such a special day in your life, every single day after your wedding! Because at the end of the day, your wedding is about your marriage and the long haul, not just having one fabulous day…so why not create something you love and that holds some meaning for you as a couple that you can treasure for years.
One of the best types of wedding details that you can DIY and then translate into your home decor seamlessly is any kind of monogrammed decor. You and your love’s initials or the letter of your now shared last name, can be incorporated into a variety of projects for your wedding. (I’m a bit of a monogram fiend, so don’t mind me if I get carried away on this one!) Some monogramming ideas that you can take from the wedding to your everyday life: Hand stamped napkins with your monogram, Handmade drink stirrers with your initials on them, and of course larger monogram decor pieces to display in your home. Monogramming can really make any wedding detail or project more special.

Today, I wanted to share a super easy project that I created for my own wedding that came home from our wedding and went right up on our wall! A few months before our wedding, a friend had gifted me with some World War II love letters found at a flea market. I absolutely loved the romance and specialness of it all, and found it such a shame for those letters to stay packed up in a box, unappreciated, for who knows how long. So, I decided I wanted to put those letters to use in a way in which they could be admired and not forgotten. Enter our decoupage wedding chair monogram! I used some of these beautiful handwritten letters to decoupage a large paper mache M to be hung from the back of our reception chairs at our wedding.
Such a simple project (Just get a bottle of mod podge and go to town!) that can give your wedding character and ensure it’s day full of thoughtful details. Then post wedding, any monogrammed decor really is the perfect addition to a new house or any newly married abode, reminding you of not just your special day but also the name you now share out of love. Our love letter covered M is now the centerpiece of a gallery wall we have in our living room and it makes me so very happy to see it on our wall every single day! A super easy DIY project that not only has special sentimental value, but also looks way cute on our wall! I’d say that’s a win-win in the wedding DIY department!
Are you a monogram fiend too? Or thinking of incorporating any monograms into your big day? Share away, I’d love to hear what your monogram ideas are!
